Bedrooms

Kilmartin Castle has five luxurious en-suite/wc bedrooms. Our beds do not split into singles. However, if required, we have a trundle bed and two travel cots available for your use.

The Snug

Tucked away on the ground floor, The Snug is ideal for guests who prefer to skip the stairs. This cosy room with the original barrel vaulted stone ceiling features a double bed, a walk-in shower, toilet, and wash hand basin, all warmed by underfloor heating.

Keep an eye out for the antique painted toilet and basin—long-lost siblings, reunited here after being found in separate corners of the country.

1550

Located on the first floor beside the grand hall, 1550 is a spacious and romantic retreat. It boasts a king-size canopy bed, stunning views of Kilmartin Glen, a free-standing Victorian cast iron bath, wood-burning stove, and a walk-in rain shower set in the castle turret. There’s also a WC, vanity unit, and underfloor heating. A trundle bed can be made up for children under 14.

Keep an eye out for the sunny yellow window seat, built by Simon using reclaimed castle floorboards during the restoration.

Clarke

This second-floor room has been colour-drenched in deep green lime wash to promote restful sleep. An original stone wall reaching 5m in height shows the space’s history. Clarke mixes cosy with dramatic flair, with a double bed, walk-in shower, twin sinks, and a separate WC.

Keep an eye out for the fabulous pheasant wallpaper by Klaus Haapaniemi—our tribute to ‘Klaus’, the pheasant who made daily appearances during the restoration.

Carswell

On the second floor, Carswell has beautiful views of Kilmartin Glen, a king-size bed, a window seat perfect for reading, and a dreamy William Holland copper bathtub for two. The en suite includes a walk-in shower, vanity unit, and separate WC.

Keep an eye out for the pigeon portraits by legendary Australian graffiti artist, ‘Store’.

Speel

Speel is a striking room on the second floor with soaring stone walls, a king-size bed, and another gorgeous William Holland copper tub for two. You’ll also find a window seat overlooking the Kilmartin Glen, and a turret rain shower in the en suite, complete with vanity and WC.

Keep an eye out for a painting by 18th-century artist John Frederick Herring Senior—famous for “Pharaoh’s Horses,” his model once owned by Queen Victoria.
