Carswell | A luxury kingsize room
Named after John Carswell, the very first keeper of Kilmartin Castle, who went on to become Bishop of the Isles and was known to stand 7ft tall!

A large part of the ceiling in this room has been vaulted, which we think John would be particularly happy to hear! The walls have been finished with lime paint, as they may have been in the 16th-century. There has been a recent resurgence of this paint, in part because of its natural ingredients and lack of chemicals, ensuring a relaxing night’s sleep.

A copper bath sits snugly in the corner of the room and a four-poster bed awaits. Two windows overlook the ancient Kilmartin Glen. We have left the window recesses exactly as we found them. They are a hint to the past and a great contrast to this crisp and bright bedroom. The en-suite has a walk-in rain shower and a separate WC.
Carswell is a room to feel spoilt in.
A room for the bold.
